Today is International Women’s Day

Today is the International Women’s Day. According to Ministry of Gender and Family this year the official marking of the day will be held at Eydhafushi of Baa Atoll.
The official marking of the day will be held on March 11, 12, and 13. As part of the events held to mark the day National Narcotics Control Bureau (NNCB) will hold a Wake up Campaign program targeting all the Island Chiefs, members of associations and clubs and members of police station in Baa atoll on the 11 of March. Gender Ministry also reveal that on the 12 of this month a photo exhibition, a Holhuashi ( A bench on the beach ) discussion and a debate competition specially targeted at school children will be held. Further a ceremony to present the awards to the wining women’s committees for the year 2007 will be held.
Gender Ministry also says that the day will also be marked in Male’. Women’s Day in Male’ will be marked on the 28 and 29 of this month.
